Contents (NME 29 March 2008)

The layout of this contents page is image dominated as the page is filled with quite a lot of images. The colour scheme is a set up of three colours of: white, black and red.

The masthead is at the top to tell people that this is the contents page so they know which page the articles are on inside the music magazine. The masthead is in white font to help it stand out on the red background to good effect, the title is also in bold capital font to emphasise that it is the contents. Next, to the contents is the name of the magazine, NME, as this reminds the audience what the name of the magazine is called so they can go and buy it again.

The structure of this contents page is split into three columns. The first column on the left hand side is a key convention of a contents page which is the editors introduction giving a brief description about the magazine so the target audience know what the music magazine is about.

The subheadings of each storyline are in bold font to help it stand out from the font that is underneath it which isn’t in bold, the un-bold font helps describe the sub heading better and intrigues the target audience into reading the stories more. Next, to each article there is a page number telling the target audience what page number the specific article is on so the magazine is easy to use and organised for the reader.

The large image suggests to the target audience that this is the main article in this  issue of the magazine as it takes up quite a large space on the contents page.

Each section of the magazine is separated and is coloured in different colour with a filled text box to show the target audience what each section is about colourfully displayed to help it stand out and catch the reader’s eye.

The use of star shapes helps the smaller important text stand out and the shape is filled in with a white colour enabling it to stand out on the red background sticking with the 3 colour scheme.
