Diary Entry (Week 3)

Week 3
In my third week of my media project I started sketching my initial ideas for my front cover, contents page, and double page spread. I used the results from my questionnaire to decide what sort of layout each page would have. I've chosen to make the front cover with one large image positioned in the middle of the page with a catchy masthead at the top of the page. My structure for my contents page will be image dominated and my double page spread will consist of one of the pages covered with an image of the artist then the other page with text containing an interview, with the text structured into columns. I have also decided from my questionnaire that the colour scheme for my initial sketches will be a modern black, red and white format.
We also looked at what were the problems with some previous students’ music magazines and what were the obvious mistakes which failed to make the music magazine professional to gain the top marks. The mistakes included silly errors such as poor spelling or different types of font and size of font, which could result in dropping down a grade.
This week has been a very useful week as I now know how to gain top marks for my music magazine by preventing doing obvious mistakes, which can cost you dearly by dropping a grade. The secret is to proof read everything you do in case you have made mistakes.
Next week I will be concentrating on planning my photos for my music magazine especially for the front cover and contents pages as I will be taking a variety of pictures so that my music magazine can stand out, and look as professionally as possible with hopefully no errors.
