Week 2
In week two I focused on my questionnaires and my initial ideas. The first lesson in week two I produced a spider diagram which included all of my initial ideas that I wanted to consider putting into my magazine. The following lesson I did my questionnaire for my audience research as this will give me a good idea what the audience are looking for in a music magazine. In my questionnaire I put in open and closed questions so I could get a variety of feedback I also put in yes or no questions. The questions that I included in my questionnaire were key questions to receive good answers so my magazine can look as professional as possible. I added questions on the front cover, contents and double page spread so I knew what the reader would be interested in, and what I should add into my magazine. I also added questions for the colour scheme for the magazine so that I knew what would catch the reader’s eye when looking at a magazine racks.
In the final lesson of week two I looked at the different types of language used in music magazines. Magazines such as Q and NME like to add in rhetorical questions and personal pronouns so the reader becomes interested and involved with the articles. Whereas, in the Kerrang magazine they add extreme language into their magazine as some sentences contain swearing. This then gives the target audience an idea of what age the magazines is aimed at as Kerrang is obviously aimed towards the adult market who are in their early twenties and Q is for an all round age group, whereas Smash Hits is very colourful and bright and is aimed towards children as the language has words such as “stuff” compared to bad language.
